SARAJEVO
Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Sarajevo Canton extends over the territory of the following municipalities: Centar Sarajevo, Hadžići, Ilidža, Ilijaš, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Novo Sarajevo, Stari Grad Sarajevo, Trnovo and Vogošća. The Canton is located in the mountain massif of the Dinarides at the junction between two large natural regions: the Danube River Basin and the Adriatic Sea. It covers an area of 1,268.5 km², which accounts for 2.5% of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is estimated that roughly 400,000 inhabitants live in the area of Sarajevo Canton.

SARAJEVO MACRO REGION
Sarajevo Macro Region (SMR) is one of the five economic regions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). It extends over the territory of both entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and includes the territory of 32 municipalities. Sarajevo Macro Region is an economic region seeking to provide a better quality and more prosperous life to all its citizens by enabling sustainable economic development. It is to set an example of a dynamic development region in all aspects of business, educational, cultural and sports life. According to the vision of the Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA), Sarajevo Macro Region is the leader in the process of integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The UNDP project SDGs Roll-out Support and Private Sector Engagement aims to empower and prepare the private and public sectors partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which directly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina's efforts to contribute to the largest global plan, Agenda 2030.

SDGS FRAMEWORK IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Based on the findings of the analysis of sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, three sustainable development pathways in BiH were identified: 1) Good governance and public sector management, 2) Smart growth, 3) Society of equal opportunities, and two horizontal themes: 1) Human capital for the future and 2) The principle “Leave No One Behind”.
TOOL FOR MEASURING INDICATORS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The template for creating the annual report on sustainable business in Bosnia and Herzegovina was created by UNDP in BiH, and it is available to all interested companies that can download it from the link on this page and then fill out their own report following the established methodology. This is particularly important for a planned approach to sustainable development and measuring development.

On November 9, 2022 the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted a proposal of Framework Guidelines of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2021-2025 for the Implementation of Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which will be publish on the official website of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees.

IMPROVING HUMAN RIGHTS IN BUSINESS SECTOR
Seeking to ensure better respect for human rights in the economic sector, the Institute for Youth Development KULT in cooperation with the FBiH Employers’ Association and with the financial support of the European Union, launched an initiative to establish a standard policy and define practical guidelines for BiH companies focusing on the increased corporate responsibility to respect human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on the UN Guiding Principles.
